Serena Williams began her quest for an Olympic gold medal in tennis today by defeating Jelena Jankovic in the first round.
She is the reigning Wimbledon champion and one of the favorites to capture gold as the Olympics are also being played at the All England Club.
Men's Wimbledon champion Roger Federer will also be in action today, as he looks to add Olympic gold to his list of accomplishments. With a stacked field and with play taking place at the most storied of tennis venues, this will be the best Olympic tennis exhibition in history.
