WASHINGTON, February 27, 2013 —Most structured reality shows are as forgettable as Gary Hart's failed presidential campaign. I loathe Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, and Buckwild is an insult to all things Appalachian. However, despite my staunch resistance, one reality show that has grown on me is Duck Dynasty.
Apparently I am not alone in my devotion to Duck Dynasty, because 6.5 million people watched the season two finale. Tonight's season three premiere will probably top that, especially after the cast of Duck Dynasty made a memorable appearance on Jimmy Kimmel last night. True to their gun-toting beliefs, their appearance was not without controversy.
The singer Morrissey, an outspoken animal rights activist and vegetarian, was scheduled to appear alongside the Duck Dynasty cast. Morrissey called them animal serial killers and refused to appear if Kimmel didn't reschedule the appearance of the duck boys.
Kimmel responded; "There's a very good reason why I didn't dump 'Duck Dynasty'," Kimmel explained. "It's because they have guns and Morrissey doesn't."
And if Morrissey is really serious, he shouldn't be making TV appearances of any kind, Kimmel continued. For instance, when he appeared on David Letterman's show recently, "there had to be an Outback Steak House ad in the mix."
Morrissey, Kimmel concluded, "keeps finding ways to depress us."
Never one to turn down a comedic opportunity, Kimmel also had the duck boys do a commercial for their newest product; a carrot call. Just like the duck boys, the video is irreverent and hilarious. If you need a good laugh on hump day, just watch this video.

With structured reality shows, one is always left wondering whether the characters are real, or a fantasy crafted by a producer designed to pull in viewers. After watching their appearance on Jimmy Kimmel, and their show on A&E, there's no doubt these guys are the real deal.
Are they rednecks? You bet they are. Are they someone I'd love to hang out with? You bet they are. I also believe if viewers give these guys a chance, they will feel the same way.

Malcom invites Tommy to attend a benefit honoring Malcom for his work with Starling City but Tommy refuses to attend. Oliver encourages his friend to mend his relationship with his father while he can.
PBS: Nature: (New) The elephant Echo, who was the focus of books, documentaries and two previous "Nature" episodes, died in May 2009 at the age of 65. This installment celebrates her life and examines how her death has impacted her family.

ABC: The Neighbors: (New) When the Weavers and Bird-Kersees go camping, Marty tries to prove that he is manly like his dad; the families have an encounter with an animal.
NBC: Guys With Kids: (New) Season finale. Chris and Sheila make a shocking announcement; Marny's sister comes to work for Gary. Keshia Knight Pulliam guest stars.

CBS: Criminal Minds: (New) When victims are found in Philadelphia in a similar style to victims of The Replicator, the stalker who has been tracking the BAU's every move, the team thinks this could be the break they need to try and apprehend him.
NBC: Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: (New) When a famous rapper brutally assaults his girlfriend, the SVU squad must battle music industry politics in pursuit of justice. Dave Navarro, Jeffrey Tambor, Wendy Williams and Perez Hilton guest star.
CW: Supernatural: (New) Sam and Dean are stumped when they investigate a possible zombie case where an amnesiac man (guest star John Reardon) dies and then revives himself once a day. After the guy is attacked by the goddess Artemis (guest star Anna Von Hooft), Sam and Dean realize he's not a zombie but instead a god, more specifically, Prometheus.
PBS: Battle for the Elephants: (New) An exposé of the illegal ivory trade. The documentary also details the complex nature of elephants: They live in highly evolved societies, are intelligent, and love, remember and mourn.

ABC: Suburgatory: (New) George is deeply affected when Marty passes away; after learning that Ryan has been dishonest, Tessa considers the future of their relationship and her plans for college.
